Book Week Celebrations

13 September 2023

During book week we celebrated the magic of books, as characters from all universes and worlds came to life at Monash Children's Hospital.

We had appearances from characters from the wonderful worlds of Moana, Peter Pan, Where's Wally and many more.

This year's theme was 'read, grow, inspire', an opportunity to celebrate everyone's favourite book and bring some fantasy and joy to the hospital.

There was a range of activities in the Monash Children's Hospital foyer for patients and visitors to enjoy, including a Walk-in Butterfly House, story times and craft activities.

Colin Dobson, Principal, Monash Children's Hospital School said it was a joy to see the smiling faces of patients, families and staff. "Book Week is a time to celebrate books, authors and well-loved characters. Monash Children's Hospital patients and staff embraced the spirit of Book Week, dressing up, engaging in a swag of fun activities, and even enjoying the company of some very cheeky butterflies."

I commit to protecting these as I live, work, play and travel across this vast nation. I pay my respects to First Nation peoples especially elders past, present and to all descendants of this nation who have cared for this place since creation. I thank them for their rich history, culture and indigenous ‘ways of knowing.’
